The couple decided to marry, despite their age difference and the objection was reported by family Anggun, reportedly because they felt Anggun was too young to get married. Earlier in 1992, Anggun signed a deal with a well-known Japanese record company in Singapore, Pony Canyon, to record an album in English which will be released in Asia. But later the project was canceled, as Anggun want to bring her talent to the West.
Finally, in 1994 after releasing a compilation album that contains all hits Indonesia titled Lost, he sold his record company to fund her move to Europe.[Edit] 1995-1996: Tough start in Europe
After giving all the success in Indonesia, Anggun and her husband moved to England. This couple settled in London for about a year. In an interview in 2006 with Indonesian music magazine, Trax, Anggun reported experiencing "culture shock" and had some serious financial problems facing a new life in Europe, said "I think the money that I got to sell my record company was enough [to sustain life in English], but I started losing my money, little by little I have to spend a lot of money to take taxis and eat!. So I finally took the bus everywhere and went to the club to introduce ourselves as a singer. "He also admitted that he must be a "false" Java that he "must convert this from a shy, introverted, 'real' Java to become a woman, shameless fearless," fake "a Javanese woman."

He finally realized that his career in England was everywhere and start thinking about moving to another country. He thought about moving to Holland, thinking that would be easier to launch an international career there because there are many Indonesian people in this country. But he changed his mind and went to France instead, and this time he will not go. He recalled, "At the moment I stepped my foot in Paris, I feel at home immediately so I decided to stay .."[Edit] 1997-1999: Au Nom de la Lune, Snow on the Sahara and international success
